Bulk actions & compensation

Two pages on Services → Hotspots let you work on many customers at once.

  • Bulk Actions (/dashboard/hotspots/bulk-actions): pick customers from a filtered list and run one action on all of them.
  • Compensation (/dashboard/hotspots/compensation): give back paid time to everyone affected by an outage.
  1. Go to Services → Hotspots and click Bulk Actions.
  2. Filter the table by its columns (Account No., Phone, Package, Device, Blocked, Last Seen) to narrow down the customers you want.
  3. Tick customers one by one, or click Select all matching filters to select every match across all pages (up to 10,000 at once). Your selection is kept when you change pages or filters. Use Clear selection to start over.
  4. Choose an action from the bar:
Action What it does
Deactivate Expires all of each customer’s active connections immediately and ends their sessions.
Compensate Adds time. Choose a Period (Minutes, Hours or Days) and an Amount. The time is added to each active connection. Customers with no active connection get a new connection based on their last package, starting now.
Block Blocks the customers on the captive portal. They can’t connect until they’re unblocked.
Clear MACs Deletes the stored MAC addresses for these customers. They may need to reconnect and log in again.
Delete Archives the customers. This is hard to undo for many customers at once.
  1. Confirm. A Last action report shows the total selected and how many succeeded or failed. If some failed, refresh the page and try again.

Use Compensation when customers lost paid time because a router or your uplink was down. By default each customer gets back their own unused time, meaning the paid time the outage actually cost them. That’s fairer than giving everyone the same amount.

  1. Go to Services → Hotspots and click Compensation.
  2. Pick the outage. If a router went offline in the last day, it’s listed under Device outages in the last 24 hours. Click it to fill in the times and the device. Otherwise, fill them in yourself:
    • Outage started at: only customers whose package was still valid at this moment are compensated.
    • Outage ended at (optional): leave it blank if the network is still down, and the award runs up to now.
    • Package and Router device: optional, to limit the run to one package or one router (the defaults are All packages and All devices).
  3. Click Load affected customers. The table lists Account, Phone, Package, Expires and the Award each one will get.
  4. Choose the compensation to add:
    • Unused time (per customer): the default, and different for each customer.
    • Whole outage (…) to everyone: the full outage length, the same for all.
    • A preset: Full package, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours, 12 hours, 1 day or 3 days.
    • Or a manual amount, with a Unit.
  5. Use Select all or tick customers one by one, then confirm in the Confirm compensation window. It shows the award, outage window, outage length, device and number selected.

The time is added on top of each customer’s remaining time. If a customer’s package had already run out, their award starts from now, so they can still use it.

If there’s nothing to compensate, you’ll see “No customers had an active package at that time for the chosen filters.” Check the start time and filters.
