First-week setup checklist
This checklist is the shortest path from a new account to customers paying and getting online on their own. You don’t have to follow the days exactly. The order matters more than the timing: router first, then packages, then payments, then customers.
Each step links to the section of the docs that explains it in detail.
Day 1: Account and business
Section titled “Day 1: Account and business”- Sign up, verify your email and phone, and create your business. Choose your country, currency and Payments Wallets ID carefully. See Sign up and create your business.
- Add your branding. In Settings → Brand & Contact, upload your logo and set your brand name, colour, phone, WhatsApp number and email. Customers see these on the captive portal, your router’s pages and your invoices. See Settings.
- Check your business details. In Settings → ISP Details, confirm your name, address, country and currency.
- Hide services you don’t offer. Open the gear icon in the top bar and switch off, for example, Statics or TR-069 if you don’t use them. See Dashboard tour.
Day 2: Connect your routers
Section titled “Day 2: Connect your routers”- Add your first router under Devices and run the onboarding script on it, so ISPMan can manage it. See Devices.
- Wait for it to show as online, then open the device page to confirm ISPMan can reach it.
- Turn on device alerts in Settings → Usage Alerts & Thresholds so you hear about it when a router goes offline. See Alerts.
Day 3: Set up your service
Section titled “Day 3: Set up your service”Pick the service or services you sell.
- Hotspot. Add a hotspot configuration in Settings → Hotspot Configurations, create your packages under Hotspot → Packages (for example
1 Hour,Daily 2Mbps,Weekly 5Mbps), and set up the hotspot on your router. Then design what customers see in Settings → Captive Experience. See Hotspot. - PPPoE. Create your packages under PPPoE → Packages (for example
Basic 5Mbps,Home 10Mbps), set up the PPPoE server on your router, and check the IP pool in Settings → PPPoE Network. See PPPoE. - Statics. If you sell fixed-IP links, set up Statics → Settings first. See Statics.
Day 4: Get paid
Section titled “Day 4: Get paid”- Connect your payment method in Settings → Payments Settings, for example your M-Pesa Paybill or Till. This is how customers’ payments reach you and how ISPMan knows to connect them. See Payments.
- Make a small test payment yourself, for a cheap hotspot package or a test PPPoE account, and check it appears under Payments → Received and the customer gets connected.
- Learn how withdrawals work under Payments → Withdrawals.
Day 5: Bring in customers
Section titled “Day 5: Bring in customers”- Add or import existing customers under Hotspot → Customers or PPPoE → Customers. If you are moving from another system, you can import them rather than typing each one. See Customers.
- Set up SMS so customers get receipts, reminders and expiry notices. See Communication.
- Track new installations on the Onboarding board if you install for customers.
Day 6: Bring in your team
Section titled “Day 6: Bring in your team”- Invite your staff from Team, giving each person only the role they need, such as technician for field staff or billing_reader for an accountant. See Team members and roles.
- Add branches in Settings → Branches if you work from more than one location, and assign staff to their branch.
Day 7: Review
Section titled “Day 7: Review”- Check the Home page for online customers, payments and any red System Logs count.
- Open Reports and Trends to see your first week of revenue and usage. See Reports and trends.
- Look at your ISPMan bill under Billing so you know what you’ll be charged and when. See Billing.
- Ask the Assistant for a quick report: “Give me a quick report: today so far against yesterday at the same time, and who is online now.” See Assistant.
